Red Crescent “International Diverse Cultures Day towards Development” 21.05.2024 @ 16:00-19:00-Qatari Red Crescent Headquarters.
Reena Naser was invited by the Qatar Red Crescent Society to participate in their celebration of International Cultural Diversity Day for Development. This annual event, held on May 21st, recognizes the vital role of cultural diversity in fostering social cohesion, resilience, and sustainable development worldwide. The Red Crescent volunteers beautifully showcased their own culture & heritage in their corresponding homeland presentations to the rest of the audience, thus sharing a myriad of cultures gathered in one room.
The theme that she chose to celebrate was “Our Humanity Unites Us,” emphasizing the importance of embracing and learning from our differences to build a more inclusive and harmonious global community. Reena was honored to deliver a presentation that aligned with this theme, showcasing the richness and value of cultural diversity in Qatar.
In her presentation, Reena highlighted the way in which Qatar has opened its arms to multicultural and multilingual communities, welcoming individuals from over 100 different nationalities. She emphasized how this inclusive approach demonstrates Qatar’s high level of tolerance, respect, and appreciation for the contributions that diverse cultures bring to society.
Reena also shared examples of how Qatar has actively celebrated and respected the diversity of its residents, particularly during the highly successful FIFA World Cup 2022. She noted how the event showcased Qatar’s ability to host a global audience while providing a platform for the expression and appreciation of various cultures and traditions, simultaneously maintaining its national cultural & traditional heritage.
Throughout her presentation, Reena underscored the idea that despite our differences in culture and language, our shared humanity ultimately unites us all. She encouraged the audience to embrace the values of acceptance and respect, just as Qatar has done in welcoming such a diverse population.
Reena concluded her presentation with a powerful message, emphasizing that acceptance must be followed by respect for one another, as this is the essence of peaceful coexistence in a country that is home to over 100 nationalities. She stressed that by recognizing our common humanity and appreciating our cultural differences, we can foster a more inclusive, compassionate, and sustainable world. The International Cultural Diversity Day for Development celebration at the Qatar Red Crescent Society served as a powerful reminder of the importance of embracing diversity and promoting cross-cultural understanding. Through her presentation, Reena Naser contributed to the ongoing dialogue on how we can harness the power of cultural diversity to create a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
Thank you Red Crecent for what you do to humanity!
